FARER Ponting II Limited Edition Watch

British watch brand FARER has a new limited and beautifully designed timepiece that is now available. Numbered 1-50 and reasonably priced at $1,425, this British designed automatic watch features a Swiss movement and Barenia bridle leather strap. Named after legendary explorer and photographer Herbert George Ponting, who is known for his work during Scott’s expeditions to the South Pole in 1910.

A strictly limited run of 50 colour-way designs inspired by the British Coast. The Ponting II’s super-smooth dolphin grey sunray dial creates a subtle backdrop to the boldly coloured dial framed by a second track outer step in split aqua and navy blue that catches the eye whatever the time zone. The main numerals clearly placed around the dial are 14 times micro over printed and finished in detail with a aqua outline at every hour. The overprinting creates a subtle domed effect that catches the light to show highlights and extra depths to the colour. The main hour and minute hands are finished in rhodium-plated flag red and infilled in Super-LumiNova, transforming the watch at night. The classic sweep second hand is finished with a powder blue Farer A tip giving constantly changing effects as it glides over the aqua and navy blue.

Named after Herbert George Ponting – born in 1870, both a brilliant explorer and photographer. He is best known for the iconic photographs he took whilst accompanying Scott’s expeditions to the South Pole in 1910. Following the tragic death of Scott and his men in Antartica it was Ponting’s images and films that were later used to show off their heroism. – Source

I love watches, but very rarely spend money on them, however I own two FARER watches… And I get more complements on them than any other watch I’ve ever owned. Full reviews on those masterpieces coming soon…

For now, if you want to grab one of these limited editions you better get it quick. They’ll be gone soon. If the aqua is a bit too daring for you check out the first design for the Ponting watch.  Link  FP
